TRIAL VERSUS TRUTH:
Worse Than Communism?
LIFE IN AN AMERICAN HOMEOWNERS ASSOCIATION:
A CASE STUDY

SYNOPSIS

This publication is comprised of public records related to the 1993-1998 litigation involving the Amber Estates Homeowners Association in Santa Monica, including business records of the association, the court records and, the longest text, the Court Reporter's Transcript of almost 3000 pages of the trial which took place from August 3, 1998 through August 31, 1998 in one of the Los Angeles County Superior Courts.

This material is a must-read for every owner in any homeowners association -- those who are already owners and those who are planning to buy a property therein. It is also indispensable for professionals who might be involved directly or otherwise in the activities or legal matters associated with the homeowners association, including:

~ Board members of the homeowners association (although these are usually volunteers).
~ Managers working for the homeowners association -- management companies or individuals.
~ Insurance carriers, in particular State Farm, for homeowners associations as well as for individual homeowners.
~ Contractors of any specialization working for the homeowners association.
~ Construction specialists hired by the homeowners association for inspection and/or repairs of any damages incurred at the homeowners association.
~ Lawyers retained by the homeowners association, and lawyers hired for the litigation matters, including trial lawyers.
~ Doctors who may treat a member of the homeowners association in case of personal injury incurred at the homeowners association.
~ Environmental specialists who specialize in toxic substances present in the premises of the homeowners association; in particular, toxic fungi (molds) -- such as stachybotrys -- which have grown inside the residence and have caused health injuries to the owners residing therein.

In addition, this material should be of interest to scholars of American jurisprudence, and can serve as collateral reading assignment for students of law. Democracy and Human Rights advocates will also find much here of interest.

Finally, it can benefit one interested in learning how lawyers and judges function and the monetary costs involved.
